Role Models in Life
Some people love to dedicate their lives to their loved ones. They are faithful in their principles and values, and with the language of a simple smile they are able to solve the irreparable problems of a five-year-old child. They provide words of wisdom to the child who lives at home and patiently provide companionship to the aging father of the family. This great role model is called mother.
Mothers are so important in any household because within their hearts is the story of a life full of happiness and suffering. They have given us birth, taken care of us, and they know what each and every one of us is made of.
These role models are also called father. Fathers provide their wives companionship in every moment in life, supporting and serving as a source of inspiration, loving patiently as faithful husbands, fathers and friends. They work to help their children grow wings and dream of a better world. They watch their children depart hoping for a prompt return showing the benefits from studying and working hard.
These role models in life are also what we know as family. Family is the basic community in which we learn how to be real role models. In this process, we learn how to be children and become part of a family. We also learn how to be happy and share our love, without being pretentious or vain. We learn how to live as a sibling, friend and child and we prepare to become role models for new lives.
These models are the heritage of our families and our society. Sometimes, they have caused great pain to some children who feel the absence of their parents, but they can also serve as an inspiration for developing wonderful feelings in their hearts, as well as for their personal and communal growth; an inspiration for all to make a commitment to see that justice always prevails among our people.
These models have been inspired by God through the humble example of figures like our Holy Mother Mary, Saint Joseph and the baby Jesus. May they be our inspiration to live as a true family of God.
